Shakespeare's complete sonnets in one paperback book.
The 'dark lady', and the 'lovely boy' have been the subject of much scholarly dispute, but one thing not in dispute is the superior quality of these lyrics, which rank among the finest sonnets ever written - in any language!
Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806 - 1861), English poet and wife of the poet Robert Browning, is perhaps best known for her remarkable series of 44 love poems Sonnets from the Portuguese. Published in 1850, they were written by Mrs Browning during the early years of their relationship. Their obvious sincerity, gentleness and passion have made the poems popular favourites with generations of readers.
Mrs. Browning, however, addressed a wide range of other concerns, and this rich selection also includes poems dealing with religion, art, social problems and political events. Good stuff!

On the 8th August, 1985, for the first time in 350 years, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre opened its doors, just a stone's throw from its original site on the South Bank, in London.
It was the culmination of the dream of Sam Wanamaker, an American actor, and architect Theo Crosby. Sadly, neither man lived to see their great achievement realized, but the Royal Mail released some beautiful First Day Covers. And we have four of them!
Featuring up to 5 commemorative stamps and a special postmark, they are canceled in various locations, including London and Stratford-upon-Avon.
These beautiful envelopes with special stamps and postmarks and detail card inside are crying out to be mounted and framed! In fact we used to have five, but one is now on our wall!
