The one-stop on-line shop for lovers of William Shakespeare and the theatre.
We've scoured the internet and the world to bring together some beautiful Shakespeare and Theatre related gifts, mementos and collectors items. We've tended to stay away from the 'souvenir' end of the market. But if there's anything you'd like us to try and find, or you'd like to be informed when we have new collectors items get in touch. Also if you have any feedback about the shop, or you have something you think we might like to sell, please contact us here.
We're basically enthusiasts, based in England. And this shop is something of a passion.
The Victoriansstarted the commercial Shakespeare 'Business'. And Shakespeareinadvertentlystarted our Maverick theatre 'Business'. Plus we're big fans of the bard. So we're sure the Warwickshire lad wouldn't mind us using his name to help raise money for further productions, especially as we used to practice the oldest type of theatre - pub theatre - in Birmingham, just 25 miles up the road from Stratford-upon-Avon!

Shakespeare's Globe Theatre has become a cultural land-mark on the banks of London's River Thames.
The dream of the late actor Sam Wanamaker, the theatre is a faithful reconstruction of the 1599 open-air playhouse where William Shakespeare worked and for which he wrote many of his greatest plays.
This film offers a unique snapshot of the life of Shakespeare's Globe, and behind-the-scenes access, back-stage views, performance extracts of Romeo and Juliet, and the dynamic educational work of the Globe combine to tell the story of this extraordinary Elizabethan-inspired theatre. Interviews with actors, musicians, dressers and key creative figures build a picture of original theatrical practice and explain how 400 years on, Shakespeare's Globe continues to enthral audiences.
A delight to watch and a 'must have' for any theatre fan.

Gregory Doran’s film of his acclaimed RSC production with Antony Sher and Harriet Walter “The best television Shakespeare I have ever seen” Daily Mail
Antony Sher and Harriet Walter star in a highly-acclaimed screen version of William Shakespeare's classic story of tyranny and ambition.
On the stage this Royal Shakespeare Company presentation was universally lauded when it opened at Stratford’s Swan Theatre. Following sell-out seasons there and in London, the production also played in the United States, where The New York Times claimed Doran’s interpretation as a “harrowing and disturbingly funny parable for the dawn of the 21st century’’
To make the screen version, director Gregory Doran worked with all of the original cast and filmed at London’s Roundhouse. Brilliantly shot by the director of photography Ernie Vincze, the production uses the edgy techniques of fly-on-the-wall documentaries. The effect is raw, intimate and strikingly dynamic.
This DVD includes exclusive interviews about the play, the production and their performances with Antony Sher, Harriet Walter and Gregory Doran.
A truly brilliant DVD. Buy it now for just £19.99 including UK postage and packing, from here.
"He was not of an age, but for all time".Ben Jonson.
He is the most famous of Englishmen, and yet our biographical knowledge of William Shakespeare has always been scant. Now Michael Wood - with the help of the Royal Shakespeare Company and many other insightful experts - unravels the mysteries, to tell the story of the bard.
This brilliant series looks at Shakespeare's times; his politics, his youth, his loves, career, plays and the 'lost years'. A must for anyone interested in Shakespeare.
One of the most 'human' performances of Shakespeare's Henry V, this top class film features a top British cast and was one of the reasons Maverick's Nick Hennegan was tempted to write Henry V - Lion of England!
It features music composed by Patrick Doyle - one time actor and now regular Hollywood player - and performed by The City Of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Sir Simon Rattle. It was Branagh's directorial debut and in our humble opinion, the boy done good! Ably assisted by producer David Partfitt (anyone remember 'And Mother Makes Three' in the seventies?) and the talented philanthrope Stephen Evans.
As a footnote, the sound editor, Campbell Askew, very kindly donated his arrow special effects to the Maverick Theatre Company, bless him!
The acclaimed 1996 production of the classic Shakespeare tale features Leonardo DiCaprio and Clare Danes as the doomed, star-crossed lovers. Set in modern day LA, director Baz really has created "the two hours traffic of our stage". A must have!
A passionate Shakesperean practically since birth, Dominic Dromgoole is the new Artistic Director for the Globe Theatre, the playhouse which Shakespeare wrote for. Here he recounts the story of his life through Shakespeare and in turn shows us what Shakespeare can tell us about the world. A poignant, revealing and often bawdy book, by turns soliloquy, tragedy and comedy, Will and Me is a glorious appreciation of how a life can be illuiminated through encounters with Shakespeare's rough and ready genius. (And Maverick's Nick Hennegan has a signed copy!)
"Dromgoole is to the Bard what Nick Hornby is to football"
